Lyanda Lynn Haupt, naturalist, is the author of Rooted: Life at the Crossroads of Science, Nature and Spirit (Little Brown Spark, 2023);  Crow Planet; Mozart's Starling, The Urban Bestiary; Pilgrim on the Great Bird Continent: The Importance of Everything and Other Lessons from Darwin’s Lost Notebooks and Rare Encounters with Ordinary Birds: Notes from a Northwest Year. She is the winner of the 2002 Washington State Book Award. Her articles have appeared in Open Spaces, Wild Earth Journal, Conservation Biology Journal, Birdwatchers Digest, and The Prairie Naturalist.
