Lynda Mapes is the author of Witness Tree: Seasons of Change with a Century-Old Oak (Bloomsbury, 2017 and University of Washington Press, 2019), Her books include: The Trees are Speaking (University of Washington Press, forthcoming in 2025); Orca: Shared Waters Shared Home (Mountaineers Books); Elwha: A River Reborn (Mountaineers Books, 2013), and other books.
A reporter at the Seattle Times since 2017, she is the recipient of a Knight Fellowship in Science Journalism at MIT, a Bullard Fellowship, and a Fellowship and writer residency at the Harvard Forest and other awards.
